You turn your back for a few hours and look what happens! The things you’ve come to rely on – like M2M Now – change. Welcome to IoT Now.

The ground-breaking website and print publication, M2M Now is an information source that tens of thousands of visitors worldwide have come to rely on since its launch in December 2010. Today, says Jeremy Cowan, it is officially re-branded as IoT Now to reflect the growing importance and possibilities of the Internet of Things (IoT).

Why the change from M2M?

When M2M Now was conceived seven years ago, ‘IoT’ was a phrase mostly found in academic papers. At the time ‘machine-to-machine’ (M2M) described fast-developing business opportunities mainly, but not exclusively, seen in business-to-business communications.

Then, with gathering momentum, we began to report on businesses exploring the potential of connected devices for consumers. The Internet of Things was elbowing its way onto the agenda, and since then we have watched and reported in fascination as new ideas, emerging technologies, dynamic business models and agile companies have taken their turn in the spotlight.

We have never lost sight of the importance and excitement that continue to surround Industry 4.0, Smart Utilities or Fleet Management & Telematics. And we still aim to deliver unmatched coverage of these areas of M2M to our loyal readership worldwide.

Yet, who could ignore the growth of sectors such as Automotive IoT, Smart Cities, Wearable Technologies, or mobile Health & Wellness?

Will we stop covering M2M? Not in the slightest.

What is IoT Now?

  • The only IoT title with the support of an Editorial Advisory Board that includes such international talent as Olivier Beaujard, Alexander Bufalino, and Aileen Smith to name just three of our 10 amazing advisors.
  • The only IoT publication that brings you unique Analyst Reports that we commission specially on topics including Automotive IoT, Fleet Management & Telematics, mHealth, Smart Utilities and Industrial IoT.
  • The only IoT site supported by an unrivalled, independent information source on How to Launch an IoT-enabled Service. Launched just two months ago it is, of course, www.IoTGlobalNetwork.com. It is already backed by over 600 companies worldwide, with more listing their IoT products and services online on this free service every day.

Regular readers will know that this has long been the ‘Go To’ site for the latest global news, video reports, and event reviews. We’re proud to have the most informed and entertaining writers in the industry, eager bloggers, fantastic sponsors and partners, all supported by the most talented back-room team in the industry. As you can imagine, this is just the beginning.

So what can you expect from IoT-Now.com?

You can expect the same original articles, independent comment, news from around the world, challenging blogs and opinions. Our fascination with this rapidly changing industry continues. The stories evolve daily. But our determination to bring you the best coverage of the IoT is just as it was before.

The French have an expression, sometimes said to be pessimistic: Plus ça change, plus c’est la même chose. With your continued support, we’ve never been more optimistic or excited than we are today in saying, ‘The more things change the more they stay the same’.
