Axeda Connexion, Boston, MA, USA. May 8, 2013 –  The winners of the M2M Hackathon at the Axeda Connexion 2013 event have been announced by the organisers.

The Hackathons brings together developers, designers and business gurus — or hackers — to collaboratively code in an extreme manner to build M2M applications. The hackers have 24 hours in which to take an M2M product or service from conception to implementation. Technical and non-technical individuals formed teams to competing for cash prizes totalling $10,000, sponsored by AT&T.

The judging panel was comprised of industry luminaries gathered by Axeda Corporation and AT&T who evaluated the business and technical value of the solutions. The developers presented them with their ideas to capitalise on a broad spectrum of connected product opportunities. The winning apps were those that brought the best technical execution and mobile user value to the issues they addressed:

First place overall went to Canary. By sending data to the Axeda Machine Cloud, Canary uses the AT&T network to “democratise” security – bringing life-saving services to a domestic audience to protect individuals, families and homes.

Air Genie was in second place overall. It enables individuals, care givers, and healthcare providers to better manage respiratory disorders by using the Axeda Machine Cloud and AT&T wireless network to collect, aggregate and analyse real-time local air quality metrics.

Audi & Klaus took third place overall. Their solution enables the consumer to choose where to source their power – and this wireless M2M model encourages more bio-farmers, wind farmers and other local sources to provide power directly to the consumer.
