Cinterion honoured as part of 2012 gold value chain award for enabling m-health solution

Cinterion, Gemalto’s machine-to-machine (M2M) business segment and provider in cellular M2M communication technology, and TZ Medical, a manufacturer of medical products, announced jointly winning a gold value chain award for Aera CT, a lightweight and cost-effective m-health heart arrhythmia monitoring device.

The value chain awards honour successful corporate adopters of M2M technology and the solution providers that make their success possible.

TZ Medical’s Aera CT device improves the ability to detect heart arrhythmias during normal day-to-day activities, and over long periods of time. Designed for ease-of-use and comfort for patients, the device uses a Cinterion M2M module to enable the Aera CT device to communicate data via cellular networks and the Internet. TZ Medical’s solution provides patients and their physicians with 24/7 monitoring and improved detection and visibility of irregular heart rhythms.

Authorised caregivers can securely log on and view patient data from anywhere in the world and with total privacy protection, to determine effective treatment approaches.

“PricewaterhouseCoopers estimates that wireless remote diagnostic services will generate $3.4 billion in revenues worldwide by 2017, making up 15% of the global m-health market,” said Norbert Muhrer, senior vice-president of Cinterion M2M at Gemalto. “The award-winning Aera CT solution demonstrates how secure and reliable Cinterion M2M technology can contribute to drive efficiency gains and growth in the m-health services sector.”
